Haitian American Community Broadcast Association, will be operating a non-profit FM radio station benefiting Miami-Dade County's Haitian American community.

The Association's mission is servicing the informational and cultural needs of the community, as well as its commitment to educate on drugs and domestic violence. It will also disseminate information on employment opportunities, along with much needed information on constantly changing immigration and welfare issues.

Such programming will indeed be crucial to our Haitian American constituency especially at a time when said issues are severely impacting the well being of the community at a dizzying pace. Specifically, Miami-Dade County's Haitian constituency is characterized by a severe lack of information. This indicator, among many others, is of particular concern especially when combined with the community's 20% unemployment rate, along with substandard sanitation and deteriorating housing.

Other focussing issues will be: Youth intervention, child abuse, infomation on missing children, teenage pregnancy, elderly abuse, healthcare/prevention, weather warnings, etc. Such programs are in need to target the black multicultural community in Miami-Dade County and it's among the most rapidly growing black population in the United States. The net increase in the black population has emanated equally from birth out.

We will also incorporate talk shows with different agencies to include HRS, Police Department, Fire Department, Solid Waste Management, Code Enforcement, etc. We hope to broaden the cultural awareness not only in the Haitian community, but also among other ethnic groups living in this area.
